Fake History
Mei was born and raised in New Beijing and moved to New Amsterdam several years ago after her mother passed away. She worked odd jobs in repair shops until her interest in the climate and terraforming caused her to pursue a career in the climatology field by becoming an assistant to the staff at the New Amsterdam branch of the Atmospheric Preservation Council. From analyzing incoming data, to coding the programs that go into the terraforming process or atmospheric stabilizers, to giving talks to local schoolchildren, to helping plan and attending benefit balls, Mei's job changes by the day.
Mei is a quiet, thoughtful individual who rarely discusses her past and prefers to stay out of the spotlight. However, if you're friends she's sure to invite you over to her decent sized apartment in the northwest part of the city for movie or game nights where she cooks authentic Chinese cuisine and serves you tea. In her free time, she explores the city and can easily be talked into heading to the more seedy areas (though not without some mild protest and flushed cheeks).
Unknown to most, Mei works for Morningstar, the rebel organization that is anti-capitalism and pro-workers' right. She wants to offer help to the lowest portion of society in whatever way she's able.
